McManus Accused of Domestic Violence

The Washington Commanders have released kicker Brandon McManus, the team announced Sunday. The move comes just over a week after McManus was accused of domestic violence.

In a statement, the team said that it was "aware of the recent allegations against Brandon McManus and are taking them very seriously. We have decided to release Brandon at this time and will continue to monitor the situation."

McManus was accused of domestic violence by his girlfriend on Jan. 29. According to the police report, McManus allegedly struck his girlfriend in the face and head and also pulled her hair. McManus was arrested and charged with domestic battery. He was released on bond the following day.

McManus has denied the allegations. His attorney, David Cornwell, said in a statement that McManus "is innocent of these charges and looks forward to clearing his name."

The Commanders signed McManus to a one-year contract in March 2022. He was the team's kicker for the entire season and made 20 of 26 field goals.
