Toronto FC and Toronto Argonauts Announce Mutual Split with Club President Bill Manning
Bill Manning, the former president of both Toronto FC of the MLS and the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL has parted ways with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE). The mutual decision was announced by MLSE, which owns both teams.
Manning has been with the organization for nearly nine years. Under his leadership, Toronto FC won the 2017 MLS Cup and the 2020 Canadian Championship. The Argonauts also won the Grey Cup in 2017.
However, recent results for both teams have been disappointing. Toronto FC finished second-to-last in the Eastern Conference in 2022. The Argonauts finished third in the East Division with a 9-9 record, missing the playoffs.
MLSE has not yet announced a replacement for Manning.
