USWNT Announces Roster for 2024 World Cup
18 Players Named to Represent the United States
World Cup Journey Begins on July 21
CHICAGO, June 26, 2024 - US Women's National Team (USWNT) head coach Emma Hayes has named the 18 players who will represent the United States at the 2024 FIFA Women's World Cup. The World Cup journey for the USWNT begins on July 21, and the final 23-player roster will be announced in June 2024.
The 18 players named to the roster are:
- Goalkeepers: Casey Murphy, Emily Fox
- Defenders: Becky Sauerbrunn, Naomi Girma, Alana Cook, Tierna Davidson, Emily Sonnett
- Midfielders: Julie Ertz, Rose Lavelle, Lindsey Horan, Mallory Pugh, Catarina Macario
- Forwards: Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Christen Press, Sophia Smith
Coach Hayes said, "This is a talented group of players who have proven themselves at the highest level. I am confident that they will represent the United States with pride and determination at the World Cup."
The USWNT is currently ranked No. 1 in the FIFA World Rankings. They are the defending World Cup champions, having won the tournament in 2015 and 2019.
The 2024 FIFA Women's World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20. The USWNT will play their first match on July 21 against the Netherlands.
