Jaylen Brown added 18 points for the Celtics, who took a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Tatum hit some key shots down the stretch to help the Celtics pull away in the fourth quarter. He also played tough defense on Cavaliers star Darius Garland, who was held to just 15 points.
Cavaliers struggle to keep up with Celtics' pace
The Cavaliers were led by Donovan Mitchell's 27 points. Jarrett Allen added 16 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' balanced attack. The Celtics shot 50.6% from the field, including 40.0% from three-point range. The Cavaliers shot just 42.5% from the field and 23.5% from three-point range. The Celtics also outrebounded the Cavaliers 52-36.
The Celtics will look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead when they host the Cavaliers in Game 4 on May 13, 2024. The Cavaliers will need to find a way to slow down Tatum and Brown if they want to get back into the series.
