Italian Coach Set To Depart After Just One Year In Charge

Roberto De Zerbi to leave Brighton at the end of the season

Italian coach set to depart after just one year in charge

De Zerbi joined Brighton in September 2022, replacing Graham Potter

Brighton Hove Albion have announced that head coach Roberto De Zerbi will leave the club by mutual agreement after their final match of the season on Sunday. The Italian coach joined Brighton in September 2022, replacing Graham Potter, who left to take over at Chelsea.

De Zerbi has overseen a disappointing campaign at Brighton, with the team currently 17th in the Premier League table and just three points above the relegation zone. Brighton have won just five of their 20 league games under De Zerbi, and have been knocked out of both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

De Zerbi's departure will come as a blow to Brighton, who were hoping to build on the progress they made under Potter. The Italian coach had been given a four-year contract when he joined the club, but he has been unable to turn things around at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton are now on the lookout for a new head coach, and they will be hoping to appoint someone who can help them avoid relegation and start moving up the table next season.
