Harris County is preparing for the upcoming Election Day 2024. Here is what you need to know to make sure you are ready to participate in the upcoming election.

Key Dates to Remember

  • Primary Election: March 1, 2024
  • Runoff Election: May 24, 2024
  • General Election: November 5, 2024

Who Can Vote

To be eligible to vote in Harris County, you must be:

  • At least 18 years old on or before the date of the election
  • A U.S. citizen
  • Resided in Texas for 30 days before the election
  • Not currently serving a felony sentence

How to Register

The deadline to register to vote in the General Election is October 5, 2024. You can register online, by mail, or in person. To register online, visit the Texas Secretary of State website. To register by mail, download and complete a voter registration form, then mail it to your local voter registrar.

How to Vote

On Election Day, you will need to present identification at your polling place. Acceptable forms of ID include a driver's license, a passport, or a voter registration card. You can vote in person or by mail. To vote by mail, you must request a ballot by October 24, 2024. Mail-in ballots must be received by your local voter registrar by 7pm on Election Day.
