Kicker Report: Zahavi's Comments Will Not Persuade Leverkusen to Sell Tah

Bundesliga Defender Not Heading to Israel

Leverkusen Sports Director Deflects Rumors

Despite comments from Israeli national team manager Willibald Ruttensteiner that Bayer Leverkusen center back Jonathan Tah could be persuaded to play for Israel, Leverkusen's sporting director has refuted those claims.

In a recent interview with German outlet Kicker, Jonas Boldt said that Tah, who is eligible to play for both Germany and Israel, will not be joining the Israeli national team.

  • "Tah has decided to play for Germany," Boldt said.

Ruttensteiner had previously said that he believed there was a chance Tah could be convinced to play for Israel, but Boldt's comments appear to put an end to that speculation.

Tah's International Career

Tah has been capped 15 times by Germany's senior national team and was a member of the squad that won the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

He has also represented Germany at the youth level, playing in the 2016 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Tah's Club Career

Tah began his career with Hamburg before joining Leverkusen in 2015. He has since made over 100 appearances for the club and has helped them win the DFB-Pokal in 2019.

Tah is considered one of the most promising young defenders in Germany and has been linked with a move to some of Europe's top clubs in recent months.

Conclusion

It appears that Tah's international future lies with Germany, despite the interest from Israel.

The 25-year-old is a key player for Leverkusen and is likely to continue to be a regular for the club in the years to come.
